Sea Haven Coastal Community Poised to Open in Monterey Bay

Building Partners Wathen Castanos and Renasci Homes Present First Enclave of Homes this Fall

MARINA, Calif. (September 13, 2016) — The construction of a new coastal community, Sea Haven, in Monterey Bay is now underway beginning with model homes in the first of three neighborhoods, which will ultimately house more than 1,000 homes. Sea Haven’s first two builders, Fresno-based Wathen Castanos and Sacramento-based Renasci Homes, will be responsible for the first homes at this new coastline community with nearly five acres of expansive picnic and lawn park areas, more than a mile of walking trails, and access to some of the city’s most popular hiking and biking paths.

Sea Haven is located near the world-famous Monterey Peninsula, on the historical site of former Fort Ord U.S. Army base and the Fort Ord National Monument, a 14,651-acre preserve. In 2012, President Obama declared the historical and cultural significance of Fort Ord, ensuring the protection of the area’s natural resources.

“This is an extraordinary opportunity for homebuyers in the city of Marina. Monterey County provides unforgettable mountain and natural views and countless ways to indulge in the outdoors,” said Chuck Lande, lead developer for Sea Haven. “Those looking for a coastal home with remarkable amenities, built by the most reputable regional builders, will find it here in Sea Haven.”

Wathen Castanos, an award-winning builder with a long history of investing in community, will build the first neighborhood, Layia, featuring one- and two-story homes. Model homes are expected to be complete in early 2017.

“This is a special project on a one-of-a-kind property,” said Joshua E. Peterson, President, Wathen Castanos Homes. “Building exceptional homes is something we do every day, but exceptional homes by a seaside nature preserve? We consider this work an honor and look forward to building homes designed to complement and contribute to the lifestyle in Monterey County.”

Following the construction of the Layia models will be the Villosa neighborhood within Sea Haven, also by Wathen Castanos. Sacramento-based Renasci Homes, will continue the project with the Larkspur neighborhood.

“As a partner in building homes at Sea Haven, we aim to design the community to be as efficient as it is attractive for the Marina residents,” said Steve Kessler, CEO Renasci Homes.

“We have a reputation of building in the most desirable locations with the highest level of craftsmanship and integrity, and look forward to working with Wathen Castanos to bring Sea Haven to life.”

Sea Haven is minutes away from the Monterey Peninsula and just to the south, Pebble Beach, Spy Glass and other renowned golf courses, including Bayonet and Black Horse and more. An abundance of recreational opportunities, such as hiking along the coast and within the preserve, are available for those looking for an active seaside lifestyle. Also located in the heart of Monterey Bay are renowned wineries, shopping at The Dunes, a variety of artisanal dining opportunities, and a distinct arts and culture district.
