Kurt Donnelly, Senior Partner with Dahlin Architects, discusses his design approach and key features for Layia by Wathen Castanos Homes

"In addition to offering single-story living as well as a bedroom downstairs in the larger two-storyplans, buyers will be surprised by the numerous ways to tailor the home to their individual family needs. Many options and flex spaces are available to customize the home and we've kept the plans very open,limiting the number of walls and allowing the furniture to define the space," said Donnelly.

"Porches and California rooms underscore an active indoor-outdoor lifestyle. Another key feature of our design includes a 'dropzone' or 'owners' entry. Owners regularly enter the home through the garages of these 'dropzones' provide areas to drop off groceries, backpacks, bags, remove shoes, etc.before entering the main living space. We've also designed large kitchen islands, more spacious laundry areas and bigger pantry and storage spaces. Offices and studio flexspaces are designed for the pre-retiree or second homebuyer who plans to spend more time working from home."
